Ok, I suppose using the term "tape recorder" shows that I'm out of it in terms of technology. Should I say she's a CD burner?
Anyway, what I mean is, she repeats everything she hears someone say. Especially Kwamai, which of course makes for some interesting things coming out of her mouth. Her latest cute thing is "Watch, Mama, this is going to be funny, ok?" Usually proceeded by her running into the couch and banging her face on it or some other slapstick.

Why Am I Smiling?
It is certainly not because I like the feel of having the flu, or whatever it is I'm battling.
Definitely not because Felicity had a nap while I lay moaning, from about 4:30 until 7:30pm.
Might be because Erol brought dinner home for those who actually felt like having food in their stomachs, but no.
Isn't even because I had to coax Kwamai to get him to think about using the computer or watching a video while I rested. (Get it? He's so off "screen time" that he forgot about it?)
It is because of the comment I heard him make to Erol upon his homecoming:
"All these videos Mama got me from the library are extremely interesting!"
And they are: (for the record)
Trav's Travels: China
Great Americans for Children: Sacagawea
National Geographic Video: The Explorers: A Century of Discovery
Human Body for Children: All about Cells and Systems
He's pretty stingy when it comes to positive comments these days, so I think I might mentally frame this one.

Felicity the Napper
It is such a rare occurrence these days for Felicity to nap at home in bed, that yesterday I thought I should document the event. The whole schedule shift of Vacation Bible School has done a number on her sleep. Unfortunately, a mid-afternoon nap also tends to keep her awake until 11pm or so. Hopefully today we will get back to a more normal rhythm of 9-9 waking and 9-9 sleeping, with perhaps a few moments of catnap at the noon Mass.
But isn't she lovely? :)

It's Been Quiet
Just on the blog, of course -- never in real life!
We've spent the last week at Vacation Bible School, with me doing the music, Kwamai participating, and Felicity hanging out with the tiny tots in the play room. The theme was "Win the World for Jesus". Kwamai learned quite a few thing about missionaries and saints, and was occasionally moved with the desire to be a saint or missionary himself. Of course, such things are rather fleeting in a nearly - 6 year old, but I'll take the moments as they arise!
He's also gotten interested in Native American culture as a result of hearing about St. Isaac Jogues. So, note to self to follow up on that.
Last night, after the closing VBS Mass, concert and party, we came home and got to reading from our Fr. Lovasik book of saints. Today he made some posters with various holy pictures on them. However, he did sort of peter out on his second plan, which was to be exactly like Jesus.
He was especially excited to find pictures of Jesus playing soccer and basketball. As he was working with them, I heard him say "Jesus played soccer when He was little..."
This is his first poster, which includes a picture of his godfather with Pope John Paul II.
Here is the second poster, with those Jesus-as-sportsman pictures.

Are you as impressed as I am that our late fines have been less than one dollar so far this year?
So, What's New With Felicity
A quick Felicity update. Her favorite thing to request these days is "Chinese food". She enjoys the video There Goes a Helicopter and cannot bear having food or water spilled on her clothes. Her hair is curling up a storm now that it is longer and the humidity is pretty intense. She loves Bob the Builder and can sing the entire theme song from the video. She is infatuated with books about using the potty. She is a serious fan of going to the library and will sit at the table to eat a meal for nearly a half hour, as long as she is hungry and Kwamai is not there to distract her. Oh yes, and one of her newest habits is repeating the first word of her sentence about 10 times before getting to the rest of it.
This just-snapped picture makes her look like she is sunburned, but she really isn't!
